Home About Size guide Journal

Designed for your proportions. Not adjusted for them.

NYA garments are written from a proportion brief, not a standard pattern made longer. Rise height, inseam placement, torso length, shoulder drop. Every measurement is defined before the pattern is drawn. This guide helps you find your Signature and confirm your fit.

The Foundation . Signature 1

For women 5'9" to 5'11". The entry Signature, and the most underserved height range in fashion. Standard sizing falls short. Generic length adjustments overshoot. Signature 1 is proportion-led design written specifically for this range, from the ground up.

The Standard . Signature 2

For women 6'0" to 6'2". This is the height where proportion challenges are most acute, and where the NYA proportion brief was first written. Rise, inseam, shoulder drop, and torso length are calibrated specifically for 6'0" to 6'2".

The Elevated . Signature 3

For women 6'3" and above. For when even the longer options fall short. The proportion brief is identical in intent. The garment remains fully considered, with an extended hem allowance to accommodate additional height. Nothing is simply lengthened.

Not sure where you sit? Take the 3-minute quiz

Take your measurements without clothing where possible. Use a soft tape measure, kept parallel to the floor. For the most accurate result, have someone measure you, or use a mirror to check alignment.

01

Waist

Measure around your natural waistline, the narrowest point of your torso. Find it by bending gently to one side; the crease that forms is your natural waist.

02

Hip

Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat, approximately 20 to 22 cm below your natural waistline. Keep the tape parallel to the floor.

03

Inseam

Measure from your crotch to the floor, standing straight with feet together. This is the measurement most brands get wrong. NYA designs to the floor.

04

Rise, front

Measure from the top of your waistband down to your crotch point. NYA's rise is set specifically for each Signature. This is where most standard trousers fall short on a taller frame.

05

Torso length

Measure from the base of your neck (the prominent vertebra) to your natural waistline. This tells us where your body transitions from torso to hip, critical for shirt and bodysuit proportions.

06

Shoulder width

Measure across your back from the outer edge of one shoulder to the other. Stand relaxed, arms at your sides. NYA's shoulder drop is calibrated per Signature, not added as an afterthought.

"Most brands take a standard pattern, add fabric to the inseam, and call it a longer cut. The rise sits in the wrong place. The shoulder drop is unchanged. The torso length doesn't account for a taller frame."

NYA starts from a proportion brief. Every measurement above is defined before a pattern is drawn. If your measurements fall between Signatures, size up and trust the proportion, or reach out to us directly. We would rather help you find the right fit than send you something close.
