Mornings before the boardroom
8 June 2026
For most of my years in corporate Australia, finding something to wear that actually represented me was the hardest part of the morning. More often than not I came up short, which sent me back online before work, searching again, hoping the next thing would be the one.
It rarely was. There was little made for my height to begin with, and what existed usually arrived as a “tall” filter clipped onto the side of a regular range. An afterthought, never a decision. Half the time there were no measurements to go on, so you ordered on faith and waited five to ten business days to be let down when it turned up.
Because that is what it was. A gamble, every time. You would find something that looked right, talk yourself into it, and then it would arrive sitting like it belonged to someone else. The rise too low. The hem too short. Close, but never yours.
It is almost funny how many brands still call 5’7 tall. When you actually live at 6’1, that one number tells you how little the fashion world was thinking about us.
I lost count of the mornings I walked into a meeting in something I didn’t like, not feeling like myself, because it was the only thing that fit. Not the version of me I wanted in the room. Just the one the wardrobe allowed.
That is what we built NYA The Label to change. A place where tall women can shop knowing they were thought of from the start, so that showing up exactly as you are is never the thing you give up. Dedicated designs, always intentional, never an afterthought.
